In recent times some of my free time I devoted to the study of my mother´s maiden name "REBANAL". First I worked my own genealogy, and with it I deepened to about 1605, with a not very important geographical shift that has taken me from my home Cabuérniga valley to the town of Mudá, near Cervera de Pisuerga (Palencia). Then came major challenges: trying to make a complete study of the surname, to let me know how many we are today, and if there is any kinship (however distant they maybe) with us.
After contacting a number of people, and spend some time as another for the files I can say to sum (which will develop at some other time) that is carried on in Spain REBANAL about 780 people, a few in Patagonia, Argentina, about 20 in Mexico, and an unknown number but very large in the Philippines (some of which now reside in the U.S.). We all have a common origin in Northern Province of Palencia, in communities near the place names: Rebanal de las Llantas y Rebanal de los Caballeros. My Cabuérniga branch emigrated in 1809 and it now descend about 250 people with close kinship relations. When other branches emigrated, and how they relate to each other are two key questions for the development of this work I started, and for which I need the help and collaboration of all.
So recently I joined a social network with the intention of connecting whith "Rebanals" with similar concerns, so today I present this blog to be a "meeting point" for all of us.
